What to Know When Seeking the Ideal Home Comfort System.
An old system can be expensive and unhealthy.
Picking the right comfort system to meet your family’s needs isn’t always easy. Courtesy Plumbing and Heating is here to help you choose new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system based on how and where your family lives. Here are some things to consider:
- Do you have family members with allergies or asthma?
- Is your family concerned about increasing energy bills?
- Do you have pets that shed indoors?
- Does your home have wood floors or wood furniture, including pianos?
- Are there rooms in the house that are cold while others are warm?
- How large is your house and do you plan to build an addition in the near future?
Keep Your Home Cool & Protect the Environment!
Most air conditioners and heat pumps sold around the world use a refrigerant called R-22. Emissions of R-22 are considered by some experts to be a significant factor in depleting the ozone layer that protects animals and people from harmful rays from the sun.
As part of an agreement with the Clean Air Act, to end production of HCFCs, (hydrochlorofluorocarbons), R-22 will be phased out over the next several years. We realize that many homeowners may be confused about current refrigerants. We’re here to inform you about the eventual elimination of R-22 and what this means to you.
You should always consider energy efficiency — along with performance, reliability, and cost — when making your comfort system decision. We’re here to answer your questions or you can visit the Environmental Protection Agency for more information about R-22. Creating a healthy home and environment for you and your family is our goal.
Long-term exposure to Low-level CO above 15 ppm can cause illness and even permanent disabilities.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and toxic gas. Because it is impossible to see, taste or smell the toxic fumes, CO can kill you before you are aware it is in your home. At lower levels of exposure, CO causes mild effects that are often mistaken for the flu. These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea, and fatigue. The effects of CO exposure can vary greatly from person to person depending on age, overall health and the concentration and length of exposure.
On March 25, 2009, Governor Bill Ritter signed into law Colorado House Bill 1091 requiring the installation of carbon monoxide alarms in residential properties. This bill is called the Lofgren and Johnson Families Carbon Monoxide Safety Act.
